Indigenous population

http://www.guardian.co.uk/global-development/poverty-matters/2011/nov/25/indigenous-peoples-benefit-development-tribal

Some of the points that I get from this link:
1)  Development turned most of the survivors into dispossessed paupers
-this is because of high income, rate of employment and imprisonment

2) In North America and Australia, the colonists are trying to steal tribal lands without thinking about the tribes superiority.
-they are using the land for economic purpose
-the natives used to pay no taxes, using no money, but now, it is all "backward". They could have lived their old happy live without those problem.

3)Development takes away something that is already good for them.
-two main things are education and housing.
-Traditional housing has many benefit-not least the fact that it is free.
-In Papua, tribes people put their pigs in the new houses and live in the old one. This shows that they are more comfortable with their old houses.
-In Australia, the children were forced to enter boarding school which educate them to be workers. This situation turned them into an underclass which would not be if they live their old life.

4) Infrastructure development
-Dams and mines -enrich the elites while impoverishing the locals.

Chomsky - Foucault debate

From the debate, Chomsky tries to defend his opinion which the fundamental element of human nature is the need for creativity. He says that there is no arbitrary limiting effect. Human should maximize the possibilities to realize this fundamental human characteristic. Basically, he says that a free society without any limitation would be an ideal society.

On the other hand, Foucault states his thesis that the society is limited and controlled by a power. The power could be the government, police and etc. He disagree with Chomsky and says that the organizations that we live in looks like it is independent but the fact is they are controlled by a power of social class.

There are some good qualities from both of them in the debate:
- They do not disagree much about each other, instead, they say that they would rather emphasize this instead of that.
- They really listen to each other opinion and try to counter them with their points which well supported by facts and etc.
